Benefits

Journaling is writing all your thoughts and feelings down about the events of your life in one place. The benefits of this are easy to overlook, I did for most of my life. I assumed, wrongly, that writing in a diary or journal was for drama queens, the needy and the self-centred. Basically, I was convinced it wasn’t for me. Over the past 4 years I have found that journaling is for me and now I’m going to share with you my three favourite benefits.

Clarity

This is probably the most obvious and yet it’s my favourite. I’m an over thinker, it’s a fact, it’s not something that I can run from, it is what makes me who I am. However, there are ways to calm the mind and daily journaling is one of them.

When you put pen to paper and fill the page with all your thoughts and feelings it’s almost as if you’re having a conversation with a friend. The conversation where you tell them all your troubles and challenges, lifting a weight from your shoulders. The world appears a better place as your problems are not flying around the mind, instead they are on paper. Having the mind empty allows you to refocus on what you want rather than what you don’t want.
