Chapter Six

As Deke drove, Micah began telling them what happened so many years ago, “I was on my way out of court after a case got settled and Sheila called me. She asked me to come home immediately. Something in her voice told me trouble was at our house. When I got there, I found Kale sitting at our kitchen table, holding a rifle on her. He told us we had to come with him. Curtis or as you call him Caliber told him come to get us and get us out of town. When I asked him why, he said Curtis told him to get us out of the picture. He said he didn’t have a choice.” Micah shook his head. “Kale has always been a weak man. He was a twin you see and our older brother Brayden was always stronger than him, he bullied Kale until he had Kale deeply under his thumb. Anyway, Brayden ended up getting himself killed and for the first time Kale was left on his own and he wasn’t sure how to live without his twin.”

Deke looked over at Gator. They’d known Brayden as Bear but they didn’t say a word.

“Curtis had visited him and he told him that he had to take us out of circulation. Kale split the house in half and when he was ready, he came after Sheila and me. We didn’t even have time to pack our clothes. He just took us as we were. We couldn’t even notify Shea that we were leaving. We were just gone.”

“We had to leave our daughter behind.” Sheila sobbed. “I was so worried about her. How was she able to survive but he just wouldn’t wait for us to get her.”

Micah looked in the mirror and asked them, “You said she was still alive right? She survived? She’s okay?”

Deke nodded. “Yeah, she survived. She even found another kid, alone and scared and she helped her survive. She’s back at the MC compound in Boston.”

“Did Kale say why Curtis wanted you out of the way?” Gator asked.

Micah sighed and shook his head. “Curtis had us believing someone wanted to kill him. So we weren’t safe. Then a month later we found out he had it done so we could not tell anyone the truth. That he was still alive. We were then prisoners of our own family. It was insane. He had grand plans, nefarious plans. You see he has always had a problem with authority, meaning he hated taking orders from anyone else above him in the food chain. He thought he would be a boss and not one of the little Indians in the tribe. But Curtis never had the power he wanted and he never realized that despite having been set back down on his ass several times. Then right after we were taken, he came out to the farm and he was telling Kale that he was instrumental in taking down the leadership of the MC he was with.
