Valerie watched out the window of the hover craft as the trees melted away, and tried to get excited about today’s visit to the one-level store front.

She had dressed nicely, even grabbing her blue silk tote from last night’s event at the last moment. It looked pretty with her pale blue suit and Atlas’s ring on her finger.

It’s just for show, she reminded herself. It doesn’t mean anything.

But it was hard not to watch the little topaz catch the light. He seemed to know her so well…
