Taylor

Taylor stared at her phone as she stepped off the elevator. Wrapping up another day at the hospital, she was ready to go home, sleep, and be grateful she had the next day off. Taylor still hadn’t said anything to the hospital about her schedule. While she was tired, no doubt, having the extra experience under her belt made her feel accomplished. Besides, did she want to complain less than a month into her career?

As Taylor stepped outside, the summer wind washing over her, she spotted Anne. There was a moment of hesitation where Taylor could have quickly walked past her and pretended she never saw her. But Taylor wanted to talk to her. It’d been two days since the encounter at Bar None and the even more awkward encounter the next morning. What she hadn’t confessed to Anne was remembering more than she led on. There wasn’t much Taylor had forgotten about that night at Bar None, whether it was the karaoke or her repeated attempts to seduce Anne. It turns out tipsy Taylor was also flirty Taylor. “What are you doing here? It’s your day off.”

Anne looked up and smiled. “I had to speak with HR about an issue with my bank. All taken care of.” Anne started walking beside Taylor. A distinct heaviness was in the air as Taylor’s mind returned to the morning at Anne’s house-- a morning that felt like a lifetime ago. Still, she wanted more, and she could tell that Anne felt that way, too. “So,” Anne continued. “Are you hungry?”

Taylor stopped in the parking lot and turned her head. “I could go for a bite.”

“Meet me at the diner?”

Taylor nodded, and Anne hurried off to her car. Taylor looked down at her scrubs and groaned. It wasn’t like it was an actual date, but she would have given anything to be out of her scrubs and dressed in regular clothes. There was no time to do anything about that, though. She pulled up the group text for Aunt Kristi and Gavin and shot them a message.
