Notable stories include “A Rose for Ecclesiastes” (1963), “The Doors of His Face, the Lamps of His Mouth” (1965), ‘For a Breath I Tarry” (1966), Lord of Light (1968), and “Home Is the Hangman” (1975). Character depiction and style are perhaps his greatest strengths, and, as illustrated by the following Arthurian tale, much of his material is developed from myths, occult belief systems, or religions.
