Chapter Two

Morning dawned the next day, and Kelly made sure she did not leave her room at all.

She ordered food for herself, and only left the room to collect the delivery.

At 3 in the afternoon, Kim finally came back from the hospital, and that is when Kelly had to finally leave the room and face Elle for the first time after what had happened in the night.

Kim told Elle and Kelly about the horrific situation in the hospital, the rising cases, the lack of safety equipment for medical personnel, and even patients.

"This isn't going to leave us soon, guys. We are in the middle of historic times."

"I want to go back to Canada," Kelly whispered.

"You can't do that, Kels. The borders are used, flights have been stopped. You will have to stay with us for a while. And why the long face? Are you not liking it here? Is mom giving you a hard time?"

Kelly did not know what to answer, and thankfully, Elle came to her rescue.

"She hasn't been feeling well since yesterday night. But I am sure it will pass. Don't worry about her, Kim, I will make sure she feels entirely at home."

Kelly looked at Elle, not able to understand why she was being nice to her.

"That is good to hear. Well, guys, I am as exhausted as a mule. I just want to take a good nap, and then we will speak in the evening."

With that, Kim retired to her room, leaving Kelly and Elle alone with each other.

"That was nice of you," said Kelly, and was about to get up to leave, when Elle stopped her.

"Kelly, I want to say something to you."

"Yes?"

"First of all, I am extremely sorry for the kind of language I used yesterday. I was in shock. I did not know how to handle my feelings, because I maybe 41, but all of this is still very new to me."

"All of what?"

A silence of a few seconds lingered between the two.

"So, you agree I was right?"

"Yes."

Kelly wanted to smile, but she held back. She did not want to seem rude.

"But, you need to understand, I just don't want to dive right into this. Especially not with my daughter's best friend."

"But...that is not the end of it. I thought I did not want to do it with my daughter's best friend, but the more I thought about it, the more...excited I got."

Kelly was suddenly fully awake, and all her focus was on the woman in front of her, looking gorgeous as ever in a white floral summer dress clinging to her body, her cleavage looking delicious.

"I saw you on that webcam yesterday, and I saw that you had received a donation on the screen. A monetary donation. What was that all about?"
