The room was unfamiliar. I looked around, and couldn’t figure out where I was.

Then I remembered. I went into heat, and mom had decided to invite a friend and her alpha son over. I’d run to Philip’s house, but after that everything was a heat-induced blur.

My hand drifted to my neck, and found only smooth skin.

I climbed from the bed and winced as pain shot through me. I looked down and saw that my feet had been bandaged.

Had Philip done that while I was in heat?

I hobbled to the bedroom door and opened it. Then I walked down the hallway to the front, where I could hear somebody working in the kitchen.

I turned the corner, but instead of Philip I saw an unfamiliar omega in the kitchen.

I stepped back in surprise, but put too much pressure on my injured foot and gasped in pain.

The omega turned and set down a dish towel. “Oh good. It’s passed.”

I nodded, and he walked over and slid an arm under my shoulder, helping to take some of the pressure off my feet.

“Let’s get you seated, then I can call Philip to come back and change your bandages.”

“Who are you?” I finally managed.

The omega chuckled. “I’m Philip’s big brother, Liam. He didn’t want to leave you alone, but he was worried he’d take advantage of you if he stayed. So he asked me to come over and be with you until your heat passed.”

Liam helped me settle onto the couch, and pressed a hand to my forehead in a practiced way. Then I noticed the telltale signs of a baby-bump just starting.

“You’re pregnant.”

He looked down and laughed. “Number four. What can I say? The whole pushing them out thing sucks, but the rest of it is worth it. I love feeling them in there, and having a baby in the house. Plus Alex likes seeing me like this, so it’s a win for both of us.”

“Four?”

He nodded. “Four.”

“Wow.”

He chuckled. “You get comfortable while I call Philip, then I’ll get you something to eat. You must be famished.”

My stomach growled and I laughed. “Seems that way.”

He smiled. “I’m always ravenous after my heats. Do you prefer cold fruits or warm soup?”

“Both?”

He laughed. “Sounds like a plan.”

He walked back into the kitchen, and a moment later I heard him talking on the phone. Then he returned with a bowl of chicken noodle soup and a plate of fruit.

“Philip will be home in about twenty minutes, as soon as he can pry my kids off him.”

“Is he good with kids?” I asked, the part of me that was still getting over my heat wondered.

Liam smiled. “Clumsy sometimes, but the kids love him.”

I grinned as I imagined Philip holding our first baby.

“Before he gets here,” Liam said. “I do need to ask how you feel about my little brother.”

I felt the blush cross my face. “I… well… I mean every omega had a crush on him in high school. And he’s such a kind alpha, and…”

Liam laughed. “So you really meant it when you were calling him alpha and telling him you needed him.
