Cook Two Meals at Home This Week. Continue the cooking you started last week, and expand it to two nights a week. If you want to be adventurous, find a new recipe. Use your kitchen, keep a fresh flow of food moving into and out of your refrigerator, and don't forget to do your dishes each night.
This last point is an important one. If you are in the habit of leaving dishes in the sink overnight, now is the time to stop. Be sure that you wash all dishes by the end of every day and leave the sink and all counters clear and wiped down. We want to promote better flow in this area, so it makes no sense to create new clutter if you are using it more. Additionally, since all clutter is really the result of delayed decision making, don't delay your decisions in the kitchen. Get in the habit of not only washing dishes when you are done with them, but also throwing food out as soon as you notice it going bad, and restocking any item as soon as you notice that it is running low.
Design an Invitation for Your Housewarming. This is a fun, creative activity. It may feel years away, but if you want people to reserve the date to come to your house-warming, the earlier you get the invitation out the better.
Whether you choose to invite friends by letter or via e-mail, take a little time this week to choose the words and/or a design for your invitations and send them off. I have had clients buy elaborate stationery and write florid invitations with a fountain pen, while others have put together a colorful graphic on their computers and used Evite. I recommend the former; the more personal it is, the better, but a simple handwritten note will do. Use this opportunity to express your style and alert your guests to the fact that you are inviting them to a housewarming after your Eight-Week Cure is finished. If they have never heard of an apartment Cure and they know your apartment well, it will be sure to catch their attention.
