The Migrations of Early Homo Sapiens

Like Homo erectus before us, we humans would ultimately migrate out of our documented origin point of Africa and into Asia and the Middle-Eastern regions. From there, we kept going and found the Americas. But this process was slow and arduous, and there was (contrary to popular belief) more than just one single migration of sapiens out of Africa. Erectus was very far-reaching when it came to its kind's migrations, but it never made it quite as far as we did before its extinction. The fossil record has yet to uncover any evidence to the contrary, as no surviving Homo erectus fossils have been found in the Americas or northern Europe. How Homo sapiens outlived Homo erectus is still hypothesized even today, but relatively recent genetic evidence has shown that most non-African modern humans actually contain an average of 3% Neanderthal DNA. What that means is that once Homo sapiens left Africa, they interbred with their Neanderthal cousins in order to strengthen overall numbers and build alliances.
