Chapter 46

An Old Friend?

Li Wei broke into a smile when he spotted the leader who called himself Ding Son using his artifact to control the array cultivator—the cylinder-shaped-mouthed guy, Ding Gun. According to their conversation, Ding Gun wasn’t part of the Ding clan but had vowed his loyalty to them.

Interesting. He hadn’t heard about the Ding clan before. Where had it popped out from?

“Brother Wei, are you saying something?” Rual’er asked, handing him a grape.

Wei sighed. This girl had given him multiple pieces of fruit in the last few minutes, and she also had a huge wine collection. The bitter wine hadn’t even lifted from his tongue before she’d handed him a bunch of golden grapes, a specialty of the area her race lived in. He couldn’t say no to her.

“No. Just enjoying your wine,” Wei said.

“I’ve plenty more variety in the Martial Realm. Once you come to speak to my father, I’ll let you taste all the thousand different wines in my collection. Even my father hasn’t tasted them all.”

Wei tapped on the metal hand of the chair, carefully watching the action taking place at the enemy’s camp. The conversation was heading in an interesting direction, and he wanted to judge the array cultivator before he made any more moves.

“Brother Wei, why are you smiling smugly?” Rual’er asked, picking up another fruit for him. “Are you hiding something from me again?”

“No, I’m just waiting for a friend to join us.” He turned to Sonja. “Sonja, can you check what’s happening behind the clock? A few people from the other camp are headed there, and Kai Shaya is also around that place.” Kai Shaya had wanted to do some investigation on the clock, so he’d gone behind it, and he didn’t want the others to disturb him.

Nodding, Sonja vanished from the array formation.

“Brother Wei, who is your friend, and why hasn’t he joined us already?” Rual’er asked. She had a lot of questions.

“Even I am surprised about that.” After seeing the array cultivator’s pale robe, Wei was trying to match it with a robe image in his memory. They looked almost the same, and the functionality was similar as well. He was ninety percent sure it was the same robe.

The robe in his memory belonged to a friend’s sect, and it was a sect artifact that was missing. While roaming through the Martial Realm in his previous life, he’d met this guy named Li Gava in an array competition. Wei wasn’t an array master yet, and they hit it off. As they became friends, Wei got to know about his situation. Li Gava came from a small sect with only a thousand disciples and was the founder’s son. The sect patriarch always remained in seclusion, and Wei never saw him on his many visits to the sect. The patriarch died after a few years, and the sect disbanded. Li Gava chose to go on a journey to search for the sect’s most precious treasure—the Thousand-Secret Treasure Robe. However, he grew older and died before finding it.
