To understand the threat and develop accurate and adequate solutions, it is sometimes helpful to attempt to explain the enemy’s viewpoint in familiar terms. In an attempt to clearly define the global insurgency’s strategy and operations using US Army doctrinal elements of operational design, the figures 2, 3, and 4 are offered.
