Chapter 13
Asa
Things changed between us after weâd made love.
Something in Ollie seemed to settle, and his insecurities were slowly melting away. I knew he was still worried about what people would think if we got caught, but he was more comfortable initiating things when we were alone.
I liked that side of him, even if I only got to see glimpses of it. There was a darkness in my brother, and I saw it more and more as his confidence grew. There was a part of him that needed to be taken care of, to fully submit and let go, but there were times when his playful side came out, and he pushed back a bit.
The more that side of him came out, the more I realized that we needed to talk about limits and what we wanted. So far, everything that had happened between us had been based on instinct and my imagination. I loved being in charge of my brotherâs pleasure, but I needed to make sure he was getting just as much out of it as I was.
I was brought out of my reverie by my phone vibrating in my pocket and quickly shook my head as I looked around the nearly full classroom. Philosophy class wasnât the best place to be daydreaming about my relationship with my brother, and I pulled my phone out of my pocket to check it.
Ollie: Iâm bored
Asa: Class hasnât even started yet
Ollie: Iâm pre-emptively bored
I grinned as I glanced up from my phone to find my brother smiling at his lap as he looked at his phone.
Asa: then tell me something youâve never told me before
Ollie: really?
Asa: yup. Itâll pass the time, and it could be fun
Ollie: Like anything I want?
Asa: anything you want
I looked up at my brother and found him chewing on his lip as he stared down at his phone. I looked back down at my lap and waited for him to start typing, curious as to what he might tell me.
Ollie: I had a dream about this class last night
Asa: You did? Tell me about it
Ollie: Elliot asked us to stay late so he could go over our last quiz with us
Asa: go on
I looked up when there was a pause in his messages and found Ollie shooting a glace at our TA, who was sitting a few rows behind me. It didnât escape me that Elliot split his time sitting behind me or behind Ollie when before he used to sit more in the middle of the class. I didnât know what was going on, but I kinda liked the attention.
People either looked right through us, or they saw us as a means to an end. Most people didnât even bother trying to learn how to tell us apart. Our mother could, but Charles and West couldnât be bothered to try. They never used our names when talking to us or about us. We were always the twins or Helenâs kids. We didnât even have our own identities in the place we were supposed to call home.
