CHAPTER SEVEN
Thursday Morning had arrived and Paula was back at work feeling refreshed after her day of rest and early night yesterday. But she was feeling a little nervous as feeling like a new girl, but she didn’t know why as she had spent enough time at the hotel within the last few days since she had returned from London.
Steven her boss the hotel manager greets her with a smile and welcomes her back.
“I have been thinking about changing the music in the restaurant” Paula told him.
“It has been the same all the time I have been here so I think it is time for a change” she tells him.
“Yes okay a good idea I will leave it up to you what you decide on” he tells her. But on her day off yesterday Paula had already sorted it all out and had a new play list.
From the first minute Paula was coming across new members of staff. Some that she had interviewed and already started before she left for London, and some that had only started at the beginning of the week while she was on holiday. She was impressed with how everyone seemed to be fitting in and somebody had already caught her eye. It was somebody that she had interviewed herself the week before going on holiday.
She caught up with Anita and April and Lisa mid-morning when they had a break and she revealed to them,
“I stayed with Elaine again on Tuesday night in her room as I didn’t want to spend my birthday night on my own like last year” she told them.
“Really” they all seemed to say together not believing a word of it.
“Okay I was horny and I was not going to let an opportunity pass. Is that what you wanted to hear”? Paula asked them.
“Yep that’s the truth” they laughed.
But there was some truth in what Paula had said because she did spend her last birthday alone and cried herself to sleep as it was her first one without Chelsey.
The day was busy and Paula’s feet and body ached by the time she returned home and showered and relaxed with a glass of wine.
“I am not going to drink before Saturday night” she had told herself, but she just couldn’t resist.
“I will only have the one glass” she now told herself, but making it a very large glass which made her laugh as she was pouring.
She took it out on the balcony as it was really warm inside even with all the windows and the balcony doors open. The view wasn’t great just the street heading into town but she could see how busy it was becoming as the evening went on.
“If that block of flats weren’t there in the way I would be able to see the beach” she always tells herself. And then she thinks about how much dearer the apartment would be if it had a sea view.
Within minutes of finishing her large glass of wine she started to yawn.
