* * * *Instead of cooking, Gary offered to take Chase out for dinner. He felt guilty that Chase slaved over the stove for him every evening and he wanted to treat him.
Showered and dressed in casual slacks and cotton shirts, they headed out to Beavercreek.
While they sat together at Brio's at the Greene, a handsome fair-haired waiter with a finely trimmed beard greeted them. “My name is John, and I'll be your server. Would you like something to drink?"
Gary smiled at Chase. “Have a beer."
Giving Gary a sweet wink, Chase said, “I'll take a bottle of the Sam Adams."
"The same.” Gary nodded.
"I'll be right back with your drink order.” The waiter left.
Gary became distracted by Chase's good looks as he perused the menu. Gary had been to this restaurant before. One of his parents’ favorite spots, he already knew what he wanted. He and Chase were sitting next to each other as opposed to across the tiny white tablecloth-covered table. The arrangement felt more intimate to Gary. From here Gary was able to reach under cover and rub Chase's thigh through his black slacks.
At the caress, Chase's brown eyes raised from the menu to send a sensual message, which instantly made Gary hard. “Have you decided?” Gary asked quietly.
"Yes. You topping me again."
Gary laughed softly. “I meant for dinner."
Seeing Chase trying to focus on the food, Gary brought his hand back to rest on the table.
"What are you having?"
"My usual. I like the roasted chicken risotto."
"Where's that one?” Chase searched the menu. Gary pointed to its place. “Mm. I'm torn between that and the lobster risotto."
"Get the lobster and we'll share."
"Perfect.” Chase grinned. “Appetizer?"
"How about the field greens salad?"
Setting his menu down, Chase said, “I do adore you."
"Behave,” Gary replied playfully.
"I hate to behave. If we were in Manhattan...” Chase rubbed his hand up Gary's thigh hotly.
Laughing seductively at Chase's tease, Gary was about to add something delicious to the conversation when he heard his name.
"Gary!"
When his parents appeared at their table, he blinked at them in shock as they smiled back at him. “Mom! Dad!"
Chase's hand instantly retracted to his own lap and he stood up to greet them.
Assuming his cheeks were blushing red, Gary gestured to Chase. “This is a friend of mine, Chase Arlington. Chase, this is my mom and dad."
"Nice to meet you, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson.” Chase shook both their hands.
Gary's father replied, “I'm Bill, and my wife's name is Mary."
"May we join you?” Mary asked, after an awkward pause.
Gary knew they had to or he'd never hear the end of it. “Yes. Of course.” He shot Chase a nervous glance.
Chase gave a very discreet shake of his head, meaning, don't worry.
Mary and Bill draped their jackets on the backs of their chairs and relaxed at the table.
The waiter was just bringing over the men's beers when he noticed the two new guests. He introduced himself as he placed the beers down in front of Chase and Gary. “Can I get either of you
