CHAPTER SIX

~The Tour~

It’s a short trip and soon we arrive at the museum. Everyone is clapping and excited about our day. Mrs. Nelly stands and raises her hands in the air, letting us know to stop talking. Everyone holds their breath, trying to be as quiet as possible.

Mrs. Nelly gives us instruction on how to exit the bus. I grab my bag and grip my action figure tightly. I don’t want to lose my talking toy.

“Boys and girls, please separate into groups of five,” Mrs. Nelly instructs.

Everyone starts gathering into groups with their friends. Dan and I stand next to each other waiting for three more people to join us.

Mandy walks up first.

“I’ll be in your group, but I need to be in charge,” she demands.

Dan and I both look at each other and then shrug our shoulders. I’m not sure how she can be in charge when all of us will just be walking through the museum.

Mandy smiles and stands with us. Then Peter walks over.

“Can I be in your group?” He asks.

“Sure...” I try to say, but Mandy interrupts me.

“Peter, you can only be in our group if you promise not to start your lunch ahead of everyone else like you do at school,” Mandy says glaring with her hands on her hips.

“I promise, Mandy,” Peter replies. Like some sort of queen, Mandy waves her hand at Peter and points at the spot next to us where she wants him to stand.

I look down at my toy and see a smile on his face. My eyes widen in shock. Apparently, even Supreme-Man thinks it’s funny.

Then Mrs. Nelly walks over to us with Kim.

“Kim needs to be in your group, okay?” She asks.

“Yes, Mrs. Nelly, it’s fine!” Mandy says with enthusiasm.

“Alright, children, it’s time. Stay in your groups and let’s walk quietly,” Mrs. Nelly tells everyone.

We march into the museum and once we’re, I look around in awe. The first thing I see is a diamond exhibit. Wow! How exciting! This is going to be the best field trip ever!

One of the tour guides walks up to us and says, “Hi, boys and girls! My name is Miranda and I will be your guide today.”

“Hi Miranda!” We all say together.

“Now, does anyone have to go to the bathroom before we begin?” she asks.

Everyone shakes their head no, except me. I do have to use the bathroom.

“Me, Ms. Miranda,” I answer.

“Okay, everyone, get in line and wait here.” She looks at my name tag and continues, “John, we are going to the bathroom down the hall on your right. I’ll come with you and wait just outside the door.”

“Thank you,” I reply.

I look down at my toy and he looks concerned.
