Eleanor could barely believe this was happening. She was actually kissing him. Kissing him like he was the last man on earth. Dex was not like anyone she’d met before. Not like any other guy she’d wanted before. The other pilots in her squadron were either dicks like Munster, married, or gay. Or women, and although she had been picked up by a woman before, mostly she wanted the arrogance and hardness of a man’s body.

He pulled her roughly to him, holding her hard against him. His lips were firm against hers, and like last night he didn’t hesitate to take what he wanted. She wondered how much he wanted and what it would be like. She didn’t want to waste time, making him question whether she wanted him or not.

If she wasn’t going to reign victorious at Red Flag, she was going to reign victorious right here, right now.

He pulled away from her for a second. “I know this feels amazing right now.” He stroked his hand from her hair, down to her peaked nipple, and past it to her waist. “But we have to be clear about what’s happening here. I need to know—”

She interrupted him. “I know what’s happening here. I’m not a child. This is now, and right here. Not there.” She pointed at the air force base, where aircraft were still taking off. “And not here, either.” She tapped her finger against his forehead. “I live here, and you live a million miles from here.”

“Not exactly a million…,” he said. “But getting back to the subject at hand, I was going to ask if you had a handy condom or…”

“I have long-term contraception, and I’ve been celibate for…a while.”

“A while as in weeks or in decades?” He grinned.

“Are you asking if I’m rusty? If I need…flight supervision?” She pulled off her T-shirt in a fast move. “Do I seem like I need a manual?”

He opened his mouth to speak, but his eyes were on her breasts. “No,” he said in a hoarse voice. He pulled the zipper on her skirt and with a small wriggle, it fell to the rocky ground. He grinned at her half-outraged, half-turned-on expression.

“Wow,” she said under her breath.

“Take off your underwear,” he demanded, folding his arms across his chest. He sat on a rock, not taking his eyes off her. “Come on, love. We don’t have all day.”

So, it was like that, was it? Maybe he expected her to balk at the request. But she didn’t. Not for a second. She didn’t work out every day to be embarrassed about being naked. She slowly undid her bra, holding it in position with her arm, and slipped the straps down her arms.

His eyes darkened as he watched. He sat, not taking his eyes off her. “Jesus,” he said under his breath as she dropped the bra.

She started to kick off her cowboy boots so she could take her panties off, but he stopped her with a hand.

“Nope. You can leave those on.
