This section examines the reporting of the firm’s impact on stakeholders other than employees.

(a) Capital Providers

Share capital plays a very minor role in the financing of the Co-op: only £67.9 million compared to accumulated reserves of £3$, 831.3 million.38 The members are not principally capital providers but customers. The extent to which the Co-op’s sustainability reporting meets their information needs is considered under the next heading.
