Chapter 11

It was four a.m. when I realized I wasn’t sleeping any time soon. So, I got dressed in wolf like silence, went to my office and put on a pot of coffee and poured over the maps and made notes. Strategizing new routes and plans for this mission, because our back up plans needed back up plans. Five coffees later I sat up and stretched my neck only to be startled by Brax leaning on the door watching me. I smiled. “Hey, you.” Brax and I have always had a brother, sister connection. Bickering and laughing in the same sentence.

“Its beautiful watching you work. You're so immersed in it and you literally look at from all angles." I blushed. "Want to share?” he smiled back at me.

“Of course pull up a chair want a coffee?” knowing he would never say no, not to coffee, that’s probably what woke him in the first place.

“Umm, not even a question... Also I wanted to chat” he said as he closed the door.

“About?”

“Dec. I know....” and I knew from the way he said it that he did.

My eyes wide “How?” I asked then turned around to put the coffee on.

“When I walked down the hall just now, It clicked. I mean we all used to joke it was him... How long have you known?” he looked at me intently.

“The morning before we left and got Josh and Peyton, but if I’m being honest longer than that the bond just didn’t click till then. I love him Brax and this mission... everything it’s bringing with it. There are things no one knows to this day about then, about me...” I looked at him with fear in my eyes and he saw it for what it was.

He got up grabbing my couch blanket on the way over, set his coffee on the floor, sat on the floor opened the blanket in front of him and motioned for me to come down. “So tell me.” So I did. He knew a lot of the early stuff but I just started from the beginning, filling in what I hadn’t told him already. And I told him everything. What Erick’s brother did, his family, mine... my history with Erick not that’s there’s much of one how Josh was my best friend and Peyton who just kinda came into the picture and became my friend too. How everyone lied to me, and how I left.

About my search into why my parents did what they did. Going from place to place, trying to find information, I searched mountains, museums, old wives tails, canyons and lakes around the world looking for anything about me. Until I came across a small village in Scandinavia that told a story about a mountain range village in Russia rumoured to have a witch there that guards a temple in the mountain. So that's where I went.

I rented a plane and jumped out near the area and changed in a wolf and searched until I found it.
