There is a lot of out-of-date information about flexbox available because the implementation has changed so much from the initial proposal. While it would be possible to polyfill a lot of the flexbox functionality using JavaScript, you may also find that you can allow browsers to fall back to a linear state if they do not support flexbox. For example, our three boxes display as in the figure below in a non-supporting browser.
