Chapter 13
THE MOMENT seemed surreal. I looked down at my softening dick and felt tempted to ask it if this was happening. I pulled open the dresser and put on a pair of sweatpants and a sleeveless shirt. Then I took a deep breath and went into the living room. From this point I could actually see the dining room area with the table and plates I still had to clear up. I felt sorry Iâd ruined a perfectly nice evening and a possibility to get monumentally laid.
I looked over to the couch and was very surprised to see a very much clothed and oddly not pissed Will sitting there.
âWell, this isnât awkward at all,â I muttered, sticking my hands in the pockets of my sweats.
âWould you please sit down with me?â
I didnât want to, that was the thing. Sleeping with him, even getting somewhat involvedâsure, that sounded good. Doing any heart-to-heart, though? That didnât sound tempting at all.
âLetâs just drop it, okay?â
âAh. So you were planning on this being a one-night stand after all.â
âWhy the fuck would you say that?â
âWhy else would you be so averse to talking about significant things in your life?â
âBecause Iâm a guy?â I said in a general âduhâ tone.
âWeak reply. Try again.â
âI donât share my emotions and shit, okay?â
âYes, I got that point earlier, in the bedroom.â
I shook my head. âLook, this is all wrong. We donât even make sense together. I mean, you have kids, lots of them, you need someone sturdy and ready to have a big family all at once, and I justââ
âDonât. Please donât do that.â
âDonât do what, say the truth?â
âDonât use the children as an excuse. Youâre accustomed to being around children. You took care of your alphaâs son until recently, after all.â
I turned away from him because seeing that stricken look in his eyes broke my heart a little bit. âThatâs different.â
âHow? How is that different?â
âItâs one kid, okay? And Iâve known him since he was a wee bit of a fluffy thing.â
I felt exactly like the ass I was being. I knew it was wrong to say it and I didnât really feel that way, though his bunch of kids was intimidating. But if he was so keen on reading my emotions and maybe getting my ring too, and I was this averse to trusting him, then we had no business being together anyway. Wasting his time and getting close to his kids in the process was only going to result in heartache. I didnât need any more of that.
âWhy do you feel this need to be something other than yourself?â he said, shaking his head.
âExcuse me?â
âYou always mold around someone. You talk more vulgarly around Weiss, but not when around me. Youâre more impulsive when around him, but entirely reticent when youâre with me. Are all of these facets of your personality? Or do you act differently around every single person? You wonât let me see what you feel. Who are you? Whatâs the real you?â
âYou canât compare the two.
