17 The King, when Tiribazus had joined him in the interior,

sent down Struthas to take charge of affairs on the coast.

Struthas, however, remembering all the harm that the King’s

country had suffered from Agesilaus, was strongly in favour

of the Athenians and their allies. So the Spartans, seeing that

Struthas was behaving like an enemy to them and like a friend

to the Athenians, sent Thibron to make war on him. And

Thibron after crossing over into Asia and basing himself on

Ephesus and the cities in the plain of the Maeander (Priene,

Leucophrys and Achilleum), laid waste and plundered the

King’s territory.
