Damia gritted her teeth in frustration. Her mother and a few close friends were in her rooms. “Doran is becoming infatuated with the red-haired slave,” she complained as she slid onto a reclining couch. She ran her hands along her shapely thighs. She couldn’t understand how Doran still refused to come to her. No one had been able to resist her, until Doran. Well, the wind-bearer Markos dared turn her down, but where did that get him? She showed him what would happen if she didn’t get what she wanted. Now he couldn’t move or talk, and she managed to gain a future husband in the bargain.

Doran could not deny her needs. She seethed inwardly at the thought of him touching the slave.

No one pretended to misunderstand about whom Damia was referring.

“You could sell her to a neighboring household,” Aminta, her mother offered.

“You could have someone drown her,” her dearest friend, Alexia, said temptingly. “The body would wash downstream, and no one would be the wiser.”

“No,” Damia said, mainly to herself. “I will get my father’s help.” If she had the servant removed, then Doran would turn to her. She needed to keep her own hands clean, but she had no problem using Dionysus’s assistance. The red haired slave’s days were numbered.
