I Declare My House a Public Disaster Area

I, Louise Sawyer, do hereby officially announce that my aged house, until recently the historic hovel of my late aunt, Catherine, is a public (and private) menace. It confounds contractors. It eats decorators. It invites unwelcome visitors of the wild, four-legged variety. And now, as proof of its evil intentions, the house has personally attacked both me and my husband, Charlie.

I urge you, neighbors and fellow Creekites, to keep your distance! Stay safely on the sidewalk, no matter how sweetly the house whispers to you. Don’t be lured by nostalgic memories of its nicer days. Trust me, the house can’t be trusted. From its rotten floorboards to its crusty ceilings, it has turned bad.
