Wet clothes were an easy payment for being able to play in the rain. Growing up, I’d always loved the rain. Jackson Falls always got plenty of it, so when we were there, it was even better. There was nothing quite like rain in the mountains. But this pop-up downpour, in the parking lot of a small-town grocery store, felt special too.

I flushed a little, peeling my sopping wet shirt over my head and dropping it to the floor.

It was because of Scott. There was no denying it. There was something there. I shivered a little, a mixture of the memory of him that morning, wrapping around me, on top of me, and the air rushing over my wet skin. Biting my lip, I dropped my bra and hurriedly dragged my borrowed sweatshirt over my head.

It smelled amazing, like laundry and Scott. Since I knew he couldn’t see, I didn’t stop myself from lowering my nose and pressing it to the fabric. It was strange… I’d always known all these things about Scott. The kindness, the handsome face, the thick, strong body. Even the way his smiling, kind expression was nearly permanent while knowing all the time that underneath that there was a protective man who cared too much.

About me.

Suddenly, I wish I’d known about this attraction before we left. Because it felt like in some kind of strange way, I needed to ask Logan for permission. Because Scott was his best friend, had been for years. I couldn’t just kiss the man.

Right?

Grimacing a little at the sound of my shorts hitting the ground, I stepped out of them, eagerly tugging on my new panties. Sleep shorts were easy to drag back up my legs, and after making sure all the important parts were covered, I stretched my hands over my head.

“You good?”

“Almost,” Scott said, a soft grunting following.

I grinned a little. The poor guy had jeans on. There was no way those were coming off easily. I was obviously right, because moments later, I could hear the muttered curses coming from Scott's mouth. I kept my face away from him, determined to give him the space he might need. Even if I was tempted to see what the man had going on under his trademark jeans and tee, or maybe jeans and a flannel.

He’d basically dressed the same his entire life, and while I much appreciated the thick, powerful lines of Scott’s body now, I could distinctly remember when he was nothing but a string bean. He and his brothers had all filled in considerably since their youth. At least, if their social media was any clue.

“God, that was a workout all its own,” Scott said, making me smile once more and dragging me out of my memories.

“Can I turn, then?”

“You can.” Scott was closer now, so when I turned, I must’ve gasped a little, surprised to find him looking down over me, bright-blue eyes worried. “Are you warm enough?” His hands moved up my arms, stroking the still tingling flesh through my sweatshirt.
