Learn to be okay with things not working out exactly the way you want them to. Theyâre not always supposed to. Leave room for the magic of the Universe in your life rather than filling it with stress.
It took me years to learn this lesson, but I couldnât deny it was a better way to live when I saw it play out so perfectly in my life so many times.
Every time I was on a tight deadline for a book, Iâd wake up to a day where I just did not feel like writing at all. Like, not happening today, no way. In my earlier years, I would beat myself up constantly for that entire day because I wasnât writing when I thought that I should have been because the hours to my deadline were ticking down.
So, instead of just enjoying the day off that I clearly needed at the time, I would feel guilty and crappy and I was not pleasant to be around. Then out of nowhere, an idea would pop into my head with the perfect scene or twist or thing that I needed to make the book way better. Always. Like clockwork.
When that happens to you enough times, you start to realize thereâs a bigger plan in play that transcends your idea of how things are supposed to be going. Thatâs the Divine Plan. When I finally realized I could give myself grace and take the day off and let the Universe tell me what I was missing from my book, I became a much happier writer.
You will never stress yourself into good situations without major costs to your health. Itâs just not worth it. Now I flowâwhich it turns out Jake has been doing all along. Naturally. Because thatâs just how he is.
He helped me realize that life is much better when you allow the current to take you where you need to go rather than fighting against it and believing you need to swim upstream all the time to get what you want, which was what Iâd been trained to do.
Now, anytime I start to feel stress creeping up, I immediately look at my life to pinpoint the source. Is it the new deadline I set? Okay, noted. Then I accept the fact that the timing for the project isnât necessarily in my control because Divine Timing knows better than me. I also know, at a soul-deep level, that everythingâs going to work out perfectly, exactly the way Source intends, even if it doesnât match the picture in my head that I had for success.
Letting go and letting God is the greatest tool for kicking stress weâve ever found. Plus, the more faith you have, the easier it gets to live like this. It might take practice at first, but eventually it becomes second nature, just like getting all stressed out over everything used to be. Putting your energy into faith invites miraculous Divine solutions into your life, which is way better.
