Vlakás. I didn’t trust half of this Celtic lot. Finn was the only one I’d trust to have my back in battle. His loyalty, especially for the Druid, coursed from him. And fine. As much as it pained me to admit, Erimon’s warrior prowess leaked from his every pore. It still didn’t mean he wasn’t an arrogant prick that rubbed me the wrong way. First impressions are everything.

The seven of us followed Erimon into a thicket of trees at a safe enough distance from the pub we could exist as our “otherworldly” selves without risking someone seeing. Given the day dove into evening, and the pub patrons had been drinking and partying since first light, it gave me extra reassurance our identities would remain unseen.

“Hey,” Harm whispered, lacing her fingers with mine and offering a warm smile. “You alright?”

I hated when she asked me that. If I wanted to talk about it, I’d talk about it—but I also knew better than to tell her that.

“Are you going to press me on it if I say yes?” Rubbing my thumb between two of her knuckles, I raised a brow.

After tossing me a glare that could’ve melted my sword, she pressed a quick kiss at the corner of my mouth. “No. Because I know exactly what’s rumbling through that titanium brain of yours.”

There were numerous reasons this woman was my fated bond. And not letting me get away with my usual bullshit—had to be one of them.

“Oh?” I halted and pulled her against me once I saw the others ducking into the trees. “Enlighten me.” Grazing my fingertips up her neck, I paused at the back of her head, bunching her hair in my palm.

“Dion may be a frivolous god, Ares, but he wouldn’t call these people friends if he thought they’d try to murder us in our sleep.” She cupped me through my jeans, squeezing soft enough not to hurt but hard enough to let me know she meant business. “Relax.”

Grunting, I chewed on the inside of my mouth before pressing my lips to hers. Breathing her in as our tongues intertwined, I let her scent dull my senses, feeling the tension releasing from my shoulders. As she always did, she obliged me, scraping her nails against the back of my head and over my neck.

“For shit’s sake. Why did I know this is what you two held back to do?” Dion’s shaking head poked from the tree line.

Not giving a harpy’s ass what he said, I continued kissing her, greedily devouring her with the kiss—until Harm pulled away with a sheepish smile. I hung my head low with a sigh before narrowing my eyes at my darling brother.

“Hey now. Don’t you give me that look.” Dion pointed at me. “You have an eternity to screw each other’s brains out. Tonight? You drink. You dance. Let’s go. Now.”

Harm laughed. “So authoritative, Dino. You mean business.”

“As much as everyone thinks parties are all fun and games, they are, in fact, also business.
