Chapter 12

Donte

Mariah was in the bathroom throwing up. I rolled over and looked at the digital clock on the night stand. It read 5:49 a.m. I waited up for Mariah to come out of the bathroom. She tried to creep back into bed without waking me up, but I was fully awake now. She got back in bed, sighing.

“Riah, are you pregnant,” I asked. She hesitated for a minute, and then finally answered.

“Yeah.”

“When were you going to tell me?”

“I was going to tell you D. You just have been so stressed out lately I didn’t want to put a burden on you.”

“Never mind that Mariah! I have the right to know that you’re carrying my seed. How long have you known?”

“I just found out two days ago. Don’t be mad at me.”

“I’m not mad at you, baby. You know I can’t stay mad at you. Do you need me to get you anything?”

“No. I can’t stop throwing up though,” she said, whining.

“I got you, ma.” I kissed her on the cheek.

She tried togo back to sleep as I wrapped my arms around her. Mariah ended up falling asleep but I couldn’t. I needed to be up and getting ready to check on my work. I got up out of bed and went into the bathroom. I relieved myself and hopped in the shower. After I got out the shower, I quickly got dressed and left.

I pulled up in front of the trap to find fiends everywhere. I walked inside and my little cousin, Spade was serving the work. Ace was in a corner counting money. Teddy and BK were guarding the place in case a nigga wanted to try me. My team was loyal as hell and quick to put in work if need be.

I waited until Spade served the last of the dope. I paid them all and took the rest of the money and left. Justice would be dropping off the fresh batch later. I had a couple more money stops to make before I made it back home.

When I finally reached home, it was almost eleven in the morning and Mariah was just waking up. I walked into the bedroom and gave her a kiss. The look on her face let me know that something was wrong with her.

“What’s wrong, ma?”

“I’m not ready to have a baby, D.”

“You’re not about to kill my seed.”

“We’re not even married. I don’t want to be a mom right now.”

“Look wherever this shit is coming from you could dead all that. You’re not killing my seed and that’s the end of the story,” I said before walking out of the house. I loved Mariah, but she was annoying me. I don’t understand how when I finally decided to settle down and be faithful I end up in a situation with my girl trying to kill my unborn. I left the house and drove to my pops house to check on him. I haven’t seen him in about two weeks, but I talked to him on the phone every day.
