Early morning sunlight filtered into the bedroom. Barron awoke, his body surrounding Dmitri’s. He was sore in all the right places. He wanted to stretch to get the kinks out, but it felt so good having Dmitri in his arms. They fit together like two pieces of a puzzle, linking together so naturally.

How could he have thought this was wrong?

Barron shoved the thought out of his head, glancing at the alarm clock. Nearly seven… and the house was quiet. Dmitri deserved to sleep in a little, Barron thought, extricating himself from his lover’s arms. He rose and drew on a pair of sweatpants before heading to the bathroom to take care of his needs. Once he’d pissed and washed his face and teeth, he exited the room, closing the door behind him with the faintest of clicks.

He padded barefoot down the hallway, the wooden floor cool under his feet. Opening the cubs’ door, he slipped inside, ready to get the boys up and moving. They had a lot of work on their hands to get the house ready, and every one of them would put in a hard day’s work cleaning up the mess.

Only the beds were empty. He strolled down the hallway to one of the bathrooms, only to find them vacant as well. Concern twisted into a ball in his chest as he went back to the boys’ bedroom—and found the clothes he’d just purchased gone.

He stalked down the hall and opened the door to the bedroom Tyler was using.

Empty. Bed made. Clothes gone.

He raced back to his bedroom and shook Dmitri awake.

As soon as one of Dmitri’s eyes popped open, Barron leaned in.

“They’re gone.”

Dmitri scrubbed a hand over his face. “What?”

“They’re all gone,” Barron said before racing around the room, looking for his clothes. His hands shook as he pulled on a t-shirt.

They had to find them.

And fast.
