● Toss 1 14-ounce package shredded cabbage and carrot mix with 1 teaspoon salt. Let stand at room temperature for 1 to 2 hours. Rinse the cabbage and drain, squeezing out as much excess liquid as you can. Toss with 1 teaspoon chopped garlic, 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger, 2 teaspoons fish sauce, 1⁄2 teaspoon white vinegar, 1 chopped green onion, and 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes. Cover and chill for 1 hour in the refrigerator.
