Chapter Twenty-Six

So that happened...

“I need to check on the dragons,” Relyt whispered, gently extricating himself from Illei and slipping quietly from the room. He saw T sitting in the common room with a drink in hand and waved.

“It’s nearly midnight, T. What’s up?”

“It’s nothing, boss. I’m just thinking about home.”

Relyt nodded wordlessly for a moment before speaking. “Wanna come feed some dragons?”

“Oh hell yeah, dude!” The big Leonid quickly jumped from his seat and set his glass on the table as he quickly moved to join Relyt, who turned and headed for the door.

As they exited the suite, they almost bumped into Saria.

“Excuse me, Your Grace. Have you seen my sister?”

He winced. “Uh. Yes. She’s currently lying down. She… is in my room if you wish to see her.”

The girl’s eyes widened as she blushed, causing T to grin.

“Oh. Okay. You don’t mind?”

“Not at all. Please, feel free to enter any time… just knock on the door before entering one of the rooms if it’s closed, please.”

She smiled brightly at him, “Yes, Your Grace.”

He sighed. “It’s just Relyt, Saria. Just Relyt.”

“Yes, Your Grace.” She smiled and turned to T, winking before she entered the apartment.

The pair continued their walk to the vault, only now T was harassing him.

“It’s not like that. We talked. She tried to hit me. We hugged. She fell asleep. I slept in the chair.”

“Uh huh.” T said, slapping Relyt on the back. “Good for you, buddy.”

They entered the lower level of the keep, finding the vault door open with Alk`hana watching them as they approached.

“Alk`hana. How are you? Are you all hungry, or are you fine for now?”

“I am not hungry, young one. Thank you.”

He moved into the vault and saw the little dragons playing among each other, smiling at the rambunctious nature of them.

“Alright. I’ll bring some more food in the morning then, if you would like.”

“I appreciate that.”

“So I had a question… I can’t really speak with the little guy yet, but how… do I name him? Does he have his own name? Did you give him one? Do I give him one?”

She snorted, a frosty mist ejecting from her nose with the action.

“Apologies. You and he will have to agree on a name. If you call him a name, he might accept it, and that will be his name.”

Relyt nodded. He noticed that T had joined the little ones playing. He moved down on all fours and let them crawl all over him, nipping at him and jumping from him. When they nipped at him, he nipped back, causing Alk`hana and Relyt to chuckle.

“What does Ak`anon mean? I don’t know that word.”

“It’s a… name for a family member or close friend.”

Relyt nodded.

“Well, I don’t know which one he was referring to then. The little one with me said ‘Ak`anon’ as Illei and her dragon were approaching.”

“He was probably referring to the young elf. You two are bonded, and he probably picked up on that. He’s progressing quickly, already speaking. You two will be bound soon.
