ADDING A LIGHTING POINT TO BE SWITCHED ON WITH AN EXISTING POINT

Where an additional light point is required that is to be switched on along with an existing light, a cable must be run from the existing point to the position of the new point. At the existing lighting point the new cables should be connected with the brown conductor to the switch return terminal and blue conductor to the neutral terminal.

Where an additional light is required but with its own switch, then the process is entirely different, as the new switch or the lighting point will need to have a live feed taken to it and then connected using the three-plate or switch method.
