Keep a bend in the front and rear leg so that you have a cushion to take any low kicks (not that you should aim to take a leg kick – mistakes do happen). The bend of the front leg improves mobility as you can push off your rear or front leg to move in any direction. A bend is also consistent with a ‘middle way approach’ – you can bend your knee more or straighten it to suit the situation.

Weight Distribution

To say that you must have all your weight forward, backwards, 60/40 etc is only ever a guideline, a base and a default position that you revert back to.
