Chapter Fifteen

Willow always enjoyed her visits to the London complex. The Winters Corporation offices were located along the bank of the River Thames at the outer edge of the city. The views from the complex were stunning. Unfortunately, the circumstances of her current visit weighed heavily on her mind, and the sights she always adored were a faded backdrop.

“Willow, are you alright?” Noah asked, as he held the taxi’s door open, waiting for her to exit the vehicle.

“Yes—I’m sorry, I guess I must’ve been daydreaming.” She thanked the driver, grabbed her briefcase and purse, and headed for the complex.

“Each time I come to London, I find the city more spectacular. Of course, my last trip was so quick, your flat turned out to be my only stop. Man, when one of you sisters makes up your mind about something, there’s no stopping you.” He chuckled, reached the entrance door, and opened it.

She gave him a sideways glance.

“The last time you were here, you came to escort me home. Victory had just been shot; naturally, I was packed and ready to go when you arrived.” She gave him a sisterly punch in the arm. He winced, rubbed at his arm, and played up the injury.

The foyer was grandiose with its muted coffee-colored marbled floor with veins of black running throughout. The marble continued halfway up the walls in a slightly lighter tone. The centerpiece of the area was an oversized marble fireplace complete with a crackling fire ablaze, which gave the enormous area a cozy feel.

“Good afternoon Ms. Winters, it’s a pleasure to see you again,” a man in a pristine suit said, greeting them.

“Good afternoon, Henry. You’re looking well, and the family?”

“All good, thank you for asking. Angie asked I meet you. She’s running a bit late with a client and I’m to escort you up.”

“How’s Angie feeling?”

“She’s well, as long as I force her to take breaks every now and then.”

The elevator doors opened at the top floor and the trio exited.

“She’s in the conference room and asked that I take you to her office, unless you would rather wait in your office?”

“No, no. Her office will be fine.”

“Can I get you something while you wait?” Henry asked, as he held the door for the two. “Perhaps a nice cup of tea with a shot of brandy? The London wind can chill you to the bone this time of year.”

“Sounds lovely, thank you.”

He nodded and left the office.

“Nice place.” Noah said, as he surveyed the office. They stood in a corner room, and two of the walls sported massive windows that framed the awe-inspiring view of London. “Is the entire building yours?”

“Yes, my parents purchased the building a couple years after they started business. It’s only seven floors but serves the purpose well. The labs are all on the first four floors; the top three floors are mainly office and conference space. The dining room, a few small rooms for overnight stays, a workout area, recreation and relaxation lounges are all located on the far side of this floor.
