Chapter Seven

I haven’t seen Hanji, and Evan never mentions him. That night, after he escorted his coworker out, he picked me up and ran me a bath.

Ever since, neither of us has spoken of that night, though my ass is now fair game whenever he wants as well. It’s back to normal for us, not that normal is, well, normal.

I’m writing more and more, which is awesome. I might have my first novel finished, with a final draft, within a month. Then I can see if I want to self publish or query, and Evan assured me I can self pub if I want to, he’ll pay for everything as stated in the contract.

I’ve been sending out feelers for editors and cover designers while querying with the book’s first three complete chapters, so I check my email no less than fifteen times a day. It’s a problem.

As I go to check near the time Evan is supposed to get home from work, I notice something I’m Bcc’d on between Evan and his cousin, Patrick. Pat is the one who told him about Wife for Hire.

As soon as I open it, I see it’s a mistake. It looks like business, and I think someone hit something wrong and got my email in there. It’s supposed to be Pat, Evan, and Evan Senior. Somehow my name got in there somewhere, probably because my new email says ‘Gallagher’ and it’s easy to accidentally select the wrong one on most email providers.

It’s a chat, and I can’t help but be nosy.
