I avoided Shadow’s gaze as I sauntered into the dining room. Ramsay and Bronte eyed me cautiously as I took the farthest seat away from all three of them. They must have known something happened between me and Shadow. Hell, they were probably listening at the door.

Lady George hummed around the table as usual. “Good morning, Tallulah! I trust that you slept well?”

I forced a smile. “Yes, it was the waking up that was a bit rough.”

Ramsay and Bronte both stifled a laugh.

“Something funny?” I asked. Heat rushed to my cheeks as I stabbed my fork into a heaping plate of pancakes.

“Your naivety amuses us, Princess,” Shadow grumbled. “You forget who’s house you are in.”

I looked down at my plate, humiliated. “I should be getting back to the palace, Lady. Can you please see that my horse is ready by mid-afternoon?”

Lady George pursed her lips. She looked hesitantly between the three lords. “Of course, Princess. I’ll see to it at once.”

Shadow dropped his fork. It clanked on the table. “Stop. You will do no such thing. The princess stays here.”

I jerked my head toward him, fuming. “Don’t speak about me as if I’m not in the room. I will leave when I want to.”

Lady George murmured something under her breath and scurried out of the room.

“Tulip, my sweet, it’s for your own good,” Bronte cooed. “We know you don’t really want to leave.”

“You’re just pissed that Shadow beat you at your own game,” Ramsay added.

“And we aren’t done playing,” Shadow snapped.

This was insane. “What in the hell do you want from me?”

Lady George sauntered back in with a tray of eggs and bacon. “Alright, eat up everyone. You’re going to need your strength for today.”

The three lords looked at me, their expressions blank. Unreadable.

“What in the world are you talking about, Lady?” I asked. Did she have any idea what these sick beautiful Fae men were doing to me? She couldn’t be as oblivious as she seemed.

Lady George smoothed her flour coated hands down her apron. “Well, it’s our annual garden games, of course. Usually it’s just the lords. I’m too old for games. But now they have you to play with.”

I nearly choked on a bite of eggs. Ramsay snorted while Bronte laughed inside his napkin. She had no idea how true her words rang.

“Lucky me,” I muttered. “What are we playing?”

Shadow leaned back in his chair, looking sexier than I wanted to admit. “You’ll see.”

There was something wrong with me. Instead of being disgusted, I was turned on. But I wouldn’t let them see.

I shoved away from the table and stood. “All three of you… are fucking toxic.”

Lady George was putting on her usual façade of pretending she didn’t know what was going on between us. She placed a bowl of cherries in my hands. “Winter cherries. They are the sweetest this time of year.”

Ramsay cupped my elbow in his hand. “Shall we?”

I cursed under my breath before following them to the garden.
