Book Three - Shopping

Ben falls asleep on Sunday still glowing with the bliss of having pleased Kathryn so much that morning. A drive out for lunch, and an afternoon walk, had been spent mostly in smiling at each other and recollecting her delight at how much they’d moved forward into something very new together.

Neither of them had referred to the fact that he’d need to be away by eleven on Monday. Ben knew that Kathryn had taken a few days out from work, and he’d kind of hoped that she’d ask him to stay a little longer. But the week’s timings were already up on the staff board at work and he knew he’d be expected there by early afternoon.

Kathryn would want breakfast done and cleared before he left her.

Ben completes his normal routine, trying to forget the constant ache from the chastity cage. Trying to think of something other than Kathryn as he prepares the tray for her.

His heart sinks as he walks into the bedroom. Kathryn’s already awake. The first time it had happened like that. He adored waking her up in the way that she’d taught him so carefully, and he’s almost aggrieved that she hadn’t at least tried to pretend for him.

“I called into your office just now. You have an extra day with me.”

Ben feels his heart leap.

“What did you say?”

“That I’m your landlady. Calling to say you’re ill. I thought we might go shopping.”

Ben curls onto the bed with Kathryn beside him, resting the tray on her legs so that she can butter the toast as he pours the tea.

“Look at us, baby. We’re like Derby and Joan sitting here eating breakfast in bed together when the rest of the world’s setting out for work.”

Ben smiles at her. He loves this. Loves the difference between them and everyone else. Being her secret. Her being his. No-one really knowing. Not really.

He hasn’t a clue who Derby and Joan are, but he kind of likes the idea of sitting eating toast in bed the way that they apparently do.

Kathryn breaks off pieces of toast as they chat about how work would manage without him. Someone else would be glad of the extra hours, he thought, and it wouldn’t be too much trouble to find cover.

Ben clears away as Kathryn showers and dresses for their day ahead. He’s puzzled a little about what they might actually be shopping for, but he doesn’t much care. The thrill of extra time in her company is enough. Whatever mundanity that might involve.

“Where is it we’re going, Miss?”

“Oh, you’re an inquisitive little thing, aren’t you? Do you really want to know?”

Ben nods. Tentatively now. Something tells him that it might not be quite as mundane as he’d thought.

“Well, it’s something that we’ve discussed a little. And yesterday, when I saw how pretty your cage looked with the ribbon tied around it, I thought we might see how far we might go with that prettiness.”

“Oh, Miss. I’m not sure. I’m…”

“I know. But I am.
