Chapter 5

Walking in Victorian Holborn, St Pancras & Bloomsbury

ON THIS WALK of contrasts we take in legal London, next a working-class area of slums that were razed by the coming of the railways and finally a fashionable area of literary fame that is home to many cultural, medical and educational institutions. Much of the Victorian architecture is of monumental size, and included on the walk are two of London’s most iconic Victorian buildings.
