This is so important that I have put them inside of this book. Learn them. Memorize them. You'll have to memorize them anyway and if you memorize them before you go in life will be a thousand times easier.

The Sailor's Creed is the motto that the Navy lives and breathes by. The Sailor's Creed is what the Navy tries to exemplify in every aspect of their day to day living and operations. The Sailor's Creed get's recited every day when you gather for the morning meetings, called Muster. Before almost every single ceremony I was ever in, or forced to be a part of, everybody had to recite the Sailor's Creed.

The Eleven General Orders of a Sentry are the rules you follow when you are on watch. Watch is a an old custom still used every day by the Navy. Traditionally a day, which is 24 hours, was divided into seven watches. During these watches you were on station doing a certain task. Sometimes these tasks are menial such as standing watch over a specific area to make sure no one enters or leaves it. Other times you get watches based on your rating such as checking on equipment and keeping logs. No matter the watch station they all follow the eleven general orders of a sentry. While in boot camp you will be made to memorize these and you will be standing pretend watches. You would do well to memorize them before you go to boot camp.
