CHAPTER 13

THEIR eyes met. Wesley’s breath quickened at the intense emotion in Bryson’s voice, in Bryson’s eyes. This amazing and beautiful man had trusted him to go hiking in the height of summer’s heat. While still a bit injured. In the mountains. And he had slid down the hill on his butt, following him with determination, and grit – and trust.

Bryson trusted him.

And Bryson was unabashedly out. It hadn’t been obvious, not until their eyes had met and they had started to check each other out. If he could do it, if he could live a life on his own terms, make a living doing what he loved, what was keeping Wesley from being his true self? If Bryson, with his still-healing leg and in his biker boots, had both the courage and the trust to follow him down the cliff, what was his excuse? He bit his lip. It was time for Wesley to get off his lazy, craven ass and at least admit he wanted to bend Bry over the nearest log and fuck him senseless.

Wait, wait. Back up. Wesley’s mind reeled from his own internal narrative. This wasn’t some anonymous, out-of-state hook-up.

Carefully, slowly, making sure Bryson could stop him if he wanted, Wesley lifted his hand to Bryson’s cheek, and caressed his jawline with the back of his hand.

Bryson leaned into the touch. “Wes.” His heated gaze singed a path from Wesley’s strong jaw down to his hiking boots, so weighty and intense he could almost feel it.

Wesley shivered. He glanced past Bryson, at the smooth rock face behind him, just to regroup.

Dad will have a cow.

Then again, his dad didn’t need to know. Or, maybe, he’d find out if it became important enough. He met Bryson’s gaze again. The charge between them was thick, electric, almost palpable. “May I...?” He leaned closer and tugged the back of Bryson’s hot, sweaty neck with his fingers.

“Yeah...” Bryson craned toward him, and the foot that had separated them had vaporized into a single layer of charged air molecules.

Last chance to back out.

Wesley banished the thought. He pulled Bryson in, knees banging and chests touching, his hard rod pressing into Bryson’s hip. And Bryson’s hot length palpable through the layers of fabric, doing the same to Wesley.

“Bryson,” he crooned, aware that they have been breathing each other’s air for eternal moments now.

Their lips touched. Sensation exploded, knocking Wesley off-kilter, making him stumble and lean in. Bryson stumbled back with a quiet “Oof,” now plastered against the water-smoothed rock face, holding each other, in a lip lock, neither willing to let go.

Bryson parted his mouth, letting his tongue dart out lazily, and stroked Wesley’s lip, making his toes curl in his shoes.

He reciprocated, tasting Bryson and finding just him. No trace of coffee or eggs or anything else he’d had for brunch. Just Bryson in the woods, Bryson cooked by the sun, Bryson seasoned by the forest, igniting the attraction that Wesley had been trying to banish for years. He’d succeeded
