Chapter Four
âIs this where you grew up?â Lane asked Takasawa as the driver drove through the open gates of a large estate. The house, a traditional Japanese mansion with sloping roofs and several freestanding buildings came into view as they neared.
âYes,â Takasawa said. âIt wasnât a bad childhood.â
Lane supposed it was true. He noticed a tennis court and a stable and the guys in suits and sunglasses standing around the compound.
âHaru and I used to play out back during the summer. Thereâs a pool and an area to barbeque.â
âWhat about your sister?â
âShe stayed inside and helped our mother with the housework.â
Lane sneered. Typical male chauvinist pig attitude.
âYou look very nice in this color. It brings out the blue in your eyes.â
Hisao had chosen his suit for him. âThank you.â
âRemind me to take you to bed the moment we return home.â
Lane scowled. Maybe I look a bit too good. The suit no doubt had been designed by Kudo. It fit him like a glove. âI just hope I live to see later.â
Takasawa smiled weakly but didnât comment.
The driver drove as close to the front porch as he could get.
âAny last things you need to tell me? I donât want to ruin this for you.â
âJust be yourself and polite. My parents are old world when it comes to rules and traditions. Our love life is not their business, even if they ask. Just smile and nod.â
âI understand.â
The driver got out and opened the door for them.
Takasawa got out first, and Lane followed.
They were greeted at the door by a man who patted Lane down.
âItâs just a precaution,â Takasawa told him. âMy father has a lot of enemies.â
âWhere would I hide a weapon in this outfit?â
Takasawa gazed over at him and smiled.
âWelcome home, young master,â the man said to Takasawa. âHeâs good to go.â He allowed them to enter, and Takasawa led the way into the foyer where they removed their shoes.
Lane had never seen such lavish living. He stared in amazement at dragon and Buddha statues in almost every room. The furniture was typical Japaneseâ¦short tables and rugs and hanging tapestries. They arrived at the formal dining room, and Takasawa entered first. He found several people waiting, including Haru.
âThe guests of honor have arrived,â an older man with Takasawaâs eyes said. âCome in.â
All eyes turned toward the doorway and them.
Lane gulped, remembering to follow a few places behind him. Even though he had a dick, he was still considered Takasawaâs woman.
Both men knelt at the feet of the man. âThank you for having us today,â Takasawa said.
It was humbling to see someone Takasawaâs size show respect to his father.
The elder Toshiba told them to rise. âWelcome to our humble home,â he said to Lane.
âThank you for having me, Toshiba-san.â
Takasawa introduced him to his mother. âOkaasan, this is Lane Hidika.â
Chaisa was a little woman, dressed smartly in a yellow suit with her dark hair pulled to the top of her head in a chignon. She nodded, but she didnât smile.
âIt is nice to meet you, Mrs.
