The Gürgüpoğlu House (Gürgüpoğlu Konağı), a half-timbered fifteenth-century Ottoman family home, is now a museum of ethnography, complete with wax dummies. Its first room is a typical Turkish salon, the walls intricately painted using natural dyes, with models seated on low divans, holding musical instruments. Upstairs, the rooms have beautifully carved and painted wooden ceilings; displays include wedding objects such as headdresses, make-up applicators and masterfully crafted silver belts. One room holds Selçuk tiles from the Hunat Hatun and glass nargiles, while the landing has a topak ev, or nomad’s tent.
