Chapter Eighteen
âUmâ¦what kind of store is Outrageous?â asked Emily, nervously standing in front. The windows displayed books, clothes, DVDs, and music. There even seemed to be a coffee bar. Was this a chain bookstore?
Leah stopped and faced Emily. âAn all things LGBT store.â
Emilyâs heart started racing and he leaned away from the store. âWhaâ¦!â
âEmi, itâll be okay. Iâll keep you safe from the scary queers.â Leah teased her. âBesides, I think I have a solution to that problem we talked about earlier.â
That caught his attention. He shifted forward, ready to brave a den of depravity if it meant a solution to the sex issue. She continued. âI figure colored condoms would give me a better illusion of yourâ¦you know not being aâ¦you know. Iâm hoping it works.â
He moved next to her, took her hand, and they entered. Whatever she had been expecting from a fag store, this wasnât it.
The place was clean, well lit, spacious, and not at all a scary den of depravity. The employees and customers looked normal. No one was wearing a trench coat. This could have been any independent bookstore anywhere. She followed Leah deeper inside, past books, movies, music, and other stuff to a door that read: No minors! Under 18 not allowed! We mean it!
Leah opened the door and walked in. This room was the scary place Emily expected, where they kept the perverted stuff. There was leather everywhere, bottles of lube, and dildos, lots of dildos. There were so many shapes, sizes, and colors it was almost enough to make him run. Give her Iraqi insurgents any day as opposed to this gay stuff he was still trying to cope with.
Leah walked to the counter and waited for the guy to turn. He had been arranging condoms when he spotted her. âLeah! Howâve you been?â
âNot too bad, Brad. This is Emily, my new girlfriend.â Leah looked over at Emily and smiled sweetly.
That made Emily blush and feel melty happy inside. She smiled at Leahâs remark. She was someoneâs girlfriend. Brad smiled back and that made him nervous, as gay men made her uncomfortable. Brad looked her over and smiled. âNicely done. Sheâs cute. So, what can I do you for?â
âDo you have any of those colored condoms, the really bright ones? You know the ones I mean, with solid colors?â asked Leah sweetly.
âYou know we do, girl. Those club boys canât get enough of them. How many do you need?â asked Brad, all business.
âCan I get two boxes?â Leah asked, looking naughtily back at Emily who blushed more. She was stunned Leah was seriously considering that much penetrative sex with him.
âNot a problem. If thereâs nothing else, Leah, Iâll bring them to the register.â
âThanks.â Leah led a wild-eyed Emily from the room. Leah turned his face toward her, trying to stop him being freaked by all the leather and porno. âEarth to Emi, come in Emi.â
âGah! That wasâ¦I meanâ¦filled withâ¦Gah!â Emily blurted, stunned by what she had seen, what was implied, and Leahâs use of the term girlfriend.
