The inequality of security conditions in big companies is well known by all employees . . . often the contractors, although they are in the same industrial plant, and sometimes involved in activities that expose them to higher risk, are completely unprotected whether collectively or individually. When accidents occur, the main contracting companies disclaim responsibility, arguing that they have nothing to do with the worker, who is employed by contract and is not a member of company staff. . . .
