Chapter 15 - Nasty or nice?

Caspian

I wished that Winnie and I could've stayed in our own private little world forever, but that wasn’t unrealistic. Instead, our days began to blur into mornings with Ezekiel, who I didn't trust, school all day, and then lessons with Zeke, who I did trust. The only positive was that there had been no more Monster sightings.

Zeke had been right about us becoming friends, which I never should've doubted. The time we spent training had formed a bond between us that we never had when we were with Ezekiel. Zeke managed to make his training fun and exciting, whereas Ezekiel spent too much time scowling, and not enough teaching. I found the more time I spent with Ezekiel; the less I liked, let alone trusted the man.

Winnie and I didn't get much alone time anymore, and today would be no exception. In fact, today may be worse, because Quill would return today. She had spent two weeks back in normal society, and even I wondered whether she had changed, or at least learned her lesson.

"I don't want to go and see him, Caz," Winter said as she answered the door to me.

"We don't have a choice, Winnie," I held my hand out to her, and she grumbled.

"I don't think I've learned anything from that rude man," she told me.

I agreed with her, but I forced her to walk with me. We had to keep up the pretence that we had absolute faith in the idiot calling himself Ezekiel.

"I know, but if he is a fake Ezekiel, then it’s better if he thinks that we believe him. I mean, we don't really know who he is," I replied in agitation.

"Alright," she grumbled, before pulling me to a stop in front of the hall door. She twisted her foot, clasped her hands behind her back, and I saw her sweet smile. "If I get one kiss from you, then I'll walk in that door and deal with that man," she promised, and I grinned.

I tugged her into my arms, and teased her with a tiny kiss, before pulling away. Winter’s eyes narrowed on me before she left one of the hottest kisses on my lips. I couldn't breathe beyond the intoxicating awareness of her lips on mine. She was so warm and soft, yet so demanding in such an appealing way.

"I think that is enough," a stern voice instructed as Ezekiel frowned down upon us.

"We're here; we just got a little distracted," Winter snapped, before marching into the hall, and pulling me behind her. "What are we learning today?"

"We are going to talk about your powers today. I hear that you have held an individual power for years that isn't yours," Ezekiel said politely, as he gestured us inside. A small table set with three chairs around it sat as a tiny object in the giant expanse of the hall.

My suspicious look aimed at Winnie, who nodded her head. Zeke had mentioned this a few days ago. He had told us that Ezekiel would want to know how Winter's power worked.
