Chapter Nine

The exhaustion which had set in afterward consumed her now. Her memory seemed to be failing her as well. She was only half aware of Rowan and Cameron removing the ginger root from her ass, unbinding her then helping her to stand and get circulation into her limbs.

Or Rowan cradling her in his arms as he carried her to a bathroom she hadn’t seen before where Cameron was already filling a tub with water.

She didn’t care that she clung to Rowan, was beyond being embarrassed now. But the coldness which enveloped her seeped into her bones and the powerful warmth of Rowan’s body soothed her like nothing else.

Rowan dipped her into the tub and she was reluctant to release her arms from around his neck. But the coolness of the water felt heavenly against her still burning ass and she allowed herself to sink in.

Cameron moved in behind her and gathered up her hair, which he then braided, in a style of knots she had never seen before.

She hadn’t paid much attention to the skill with which he had bound her before, but now she recognized that he had treated her long hair like the ropes he had used to tie her up.

She allowed herself to be bathed, patted dry, fed, and then put in a warm bed.

When they closed the door of the bedroom, silent tears rolled over her nose and dripped into her hair.

The next time she woke up, the sun hadn’t even properly risen yet. She had never in all her life been awake this early.

Anxiety hit her like a ton of boulders. What had she done?

They had used unfair methods to extract information from her and she caved like a weakling and gave them what they wanted.

If one of them went after Loaded Slayer, the deal would be off. Although he had told her not to find him. She wouldn’t succeed. He was protected by his bosses who were very dangerous men. She had concluded the business of blackmailing wealthy people was a lucrative endeavor and the people running the whole show were crime lords and generally unpleasant.

She had to believe that even if the Carter brothers passed on the name of her blackmailer to her brothers, Loaded Slayer would be hard to find. She had to believe him when he said he was protected. It wasn’t as if he worked in an office that they could just bombard. Everything was online. He told her Loaded Slayer was a once-off name too, which increased the chances of no one finding him.

Which meant she still had time to get to him. She still had a few days.

She had told them everything, well enough to appease them and her brothers so there was no reason she had to stay. They would get off her back and she could deal with it all by herself.

She sprang out of the bed, then groaned at her naked body. Then her gaze fell onto a few pieces of luggage that looked shockingly familiar.
