Chapter 8
Happy Day Wedding Planning Promise #8: Have a wedding weekend indiscretion or two you want us to look past? Donât worry! We know how to keep a secret.
The next morning, while Andrew looked immaculate in another, custom suitâthe man seemed to live in suitsâPortia was forced to do the walk of shame back to her room in the same, rather wrinkled clothes as yesterday.
If my job hadnât already disappeared along with Matt, Iâd worry about being fired for total abandonment of anything like professionalism.
Because Andrew was a gentleman, he escorted her. Because Wink was Wink, she went with them.
The pup looked much fresher this morning, her dark eyes gazing up to Portia with a look which seemed to scream, Mama!
She guessed at least the pooch had decided where this relationship was going.
Sadly, Portia wasnât as certain.
While her body was still kind of singing from last night and there were a lot of parts of her which wanted to find a good, empty closet to push Andrew into and demand a repeat performance, there was no way to know if she could continue to hope for more. Yes, she understood that Andrew was extremely attracted to her, and she also understood thatâassuming that everything she was attracted to in him wasnât an actâshe was also falling for him. But she was also painfully aware that weddings were infamous for hook-ups which lasted only until the last bottle of champagne was drained at the reception.
Come Monday, when Mr. Painfully Hollywood Beautiful is back on a plane to L.A., itâs very possible that Iâll only be a vague memory.
The other problem was trying to figure out if it would be better this way or not. After all, she was going to have a whole lot to deal with in the aftermath of Mattâs embezzlement. Whether it were sane to want a new relationship with a TV star to be part of that, she didnât know.
Thankfully, they only passed a couple of people on the way to her room, and they seemed to only take her in as Yeah, the wedding plannerâs here, without noticing she was in the same outfit, so that was good. Now, if she could manage to make it all the way to her room without one of her former teammates discovering her . . .
As if the thought had manifested them, the Crazy Esses exited their shared room at just the moment Portia was about to step into hers. Sheâd kind of forgotten sheâd put them across the hall.
Fascinated, the two women stared at her and Andrew. Sadly, her outfit was not something they would overlook. Neither Steffi nor Stephi ever forgot someoneâs clothes.
It was a long moment, as they stared and then looked at each other in silence. When Portia felt Andrew shift beside her, she knew he was thinking about putting his hand on her back but wasnât certain whether sheâd appreciate the gesture.
Portia wasnât certain, either.
Only Wink moved, coming over to plop on her butt
