Although the caps for the water and fuel filler pipes are usually designed to take a winch handle, space is often restricted. An old handle cut to fit solves the problem.

Always make sure the O-ring on the cap is in sound condition or salt water will find its way in.

Be very careful to check which filler you are using. I am not sure which is worse: fuel in the fresh water or water in the fuel. The latter may not be a disaster if you do something about it before starting the engine, but I doubt you would ever get rid of the taste of diesel in the fresh water tank.
