Gio put up a struggle as he was dragged to the cells. David had to agree with his father. Something was wrong with his brother. He had always been an arse, but never like this, and the old Gio would never insult his mate.

Raz opened the door to one of the cells, and Gio was pushed in, the door locked behind him.

“The bars are made of lead, Gio. You can’t escape, so don’t even try,” David told him.

“Let me out,” Gio snarled.

David shook his head. “I agree with Father, something is wrong with you. You’ll stay here, until we figure out what that is.”

“I’ll kill you for this,” Gio told him angrily.

“So be it,” David said, and with that, he and Raz left the cells. David closed a large solid door behind them.

Gio dropped to the floor and sat down with a thud. He had no idea why he was angry at those he cared most about. Every time he wanted to say something nice, the opposite came out. Maybe he was going mad.

A laugh sounded around the cell. Gio looked around to see if anyone was there, when suddenly a figure appeared in front of him. “Poor, Gio, look at you all locked up.”

Gio got to his feet. “Who are you?”

“I’m insulted that you don’t remember me. Am I so forgettable? I can assure you, I remember you.”

Gio looked at the man, there was a stirring memory. “I’ve met you before.”

“You have, you spent the night with me, and then the next day, threw me over for that vampire,” the man spat out.

“I remember. I met my mate the next day. Mating trumps one-night stands,” Gio told him.

“That’s what you think. I bet you’re wondering how you ended up here,” he said waving his hands towards the cell. “Simple. I cursed you,” he said

“You did what?” Gio shouted, heading for the bars to grab hold of them. He cursed when he touched the bars, pulling his hands back quickly.

“Cursed you. Every time you are with someone you love, you’ll get angry, and you’ll hurt them with your words and actions. You, Gio, will never feel the love of anyone again, unless you denounce everyone you love, and come and live with me. You will be my plaything. Just think of how much fun we will have together.”

Gio gave a hollow laugh. “Considering I have no idea of your name and can barely remember you, I don’t think we'd have any fun.”

The man took a step back as if he had been slapped. “In that case, you will suffer this curse until you die,” he spat out, and with that, the man vanished.

Gio let out a sob. At least he now knew what was wrong with him. He was cursed and had no way of breaking it. He was going to die, with all those he loved hating him. He dropped down onto the bed, and cried for all he was about to lose.
