Chapter 38 ~ Caleb

Sitting in the hospital bed with the woman he loved more than life itself pressed up against his body, Caleb allowed himself to reflect on their reunion last night. Pasiphae told him when he played back the embarrassing moment he had, that he would see it differently. She was right. He loved the way her hands moved through his hair. It was incredible. His pride completely got in the way yesterday. How could it not get in the way? It should not have, because Pasiphae was his safety.

Caleb took his love’s advice to relive the experience with her. He relaxed and closed his eyes while soaking up her warmth.

He knew he wanted her hands to find their way into his hair for the rest of his life. His hair was no longer his and his alone. He gladly welcomed her into his space. All of him belonged to her, and he found satisfaction in that knowledge. Nothing about himself did he want to keep away from her. He desired to share all of who he was with her. His hair was just the beginning, a symbolic moment of letting go and surrendering every bit of himself inside and out to his soulmate.

Caleb’s body cramped up after an hour in his position. It was the arm behind his head that felt it the most. Pain aside, he didn’t want to move from the position with her against his body.

He felt very put out when the loud breakfast lady came back for the uneaten breakfast, waking Pasiphae up again.

What’s done was done, so Caleb carefully moved from behind her in order to use the bathroom. When he came back, his beautiful girl was shyly looking at him while saying, “I have to pee, too.”

“Should I get a nurse?” He asked her.

“I think we can do it by ourselves. Do you remember what she showed us about the wires?”

“Yes.”

“Then we got this.”

Caleb unplugged everything and then helped her out of the bed. She moved a smidge quicker this time.

Caleb helped her pull her underwear down, but this time he avoided the sensual movements. It did not feel like an appropriate time. He helped her sit down and stepped outside the door to sort of give her some privacy.

Caleb had never peed in front of a girl or had one pee in front of him. Therefore, he was uncertain of the proper etiquette in the situation.

“You didn’t have to leave, my heart,” she told him.

Unable to resist her, Caleb went back in the bathroom. “I thought you might find it weird peeing with me in the room.”

“I do, but I might as well get it over with. I know I am going to need someone’s help until I am back to normal. I want it to be you helping me, and that probably means using the bathroom in front of you sooner than we imagined in this crazy relationship.”

Caleb’s smile at her vulnerable statement was breathtaking. “How do you do that?” She asked him.
