It's almost midnight when I make it back to the tavern. The only person still awake is Dot.

"Where have you been, Annabelle? I've been worried sick... I thought those things got you," she whispers, grabbing my elbow and pulling me back into the hallway. I shrug her off and cross my arms. I don't know why I feel so irritated, but I want to go to bed. It's been a long day.

"I'm sure I know where you went, and I don't want to mother-hen you, but I don't know, dude, I was worried. You can't just go off on your own like that."

"You're not my mother, Delores," I say, pointing a finger into her chest. "You don't get to tell me what to do. I wanted to go see her." my voice cracks. I swallow and blink back the tears that attempt to form.

"You went back there?" she asks, her eyes widening. "Yes, I remember everything now. I'm conflicted; I'm angry that you deleted her from my brain, but I'm also thankful. The state I was in after... I wouldn't be here today if it weren't for you, so thank you."

"It was hard, you know. Watching you suffer. Then after I blocked the memories... it was even harder watching you, completely happy and acting like she was still here with us. I know you can see her ghost... If you're here, Ophelia, I'm sorry; I did what I had to do."

I look over her shoulder at Ophelia, who nods in acknowledgment. I push my shoulders back and take a deep breath. Dot tells me, "I think that's why your abilities haven't been working, somehow. When I did the block in your memories, I think it stifled your power."

I consider this for a moment, then, not knowing how to respond, I blurt out, "I found Leanne's pendant on Jeremy's body. I don't know what it means, but he had it around his neck."

Her eyes widen in shock. She puts her hand to her mouth and pushes her lip in, chewing on it.

"What do we do now?" I ask.

"I- I don't know." She answers.

"Well, we were sent here on a mission; we must try to bring back those missing people."

"We just need to leave; we cannot get to them. We need to report our findings and leave."

"What if we made those things come back? Maybe we can get them to give our people back?" I reply. We can't just leave them to die.

"Annabelle, they want to take you. Did you forget that?"

"No, but-"

"But nothing. We're leaving. That's final." she sighs and pinches the bridge of her nose. "I'm going to bed. I suggest you do the same." she turns on her heel and stalks back into the room.

I pace the hallway, considering all that happened the last week. We were still figuring out what was going on. Those creatures want us to help find some queen and her baby. I need to figure out where to begin looking into that. Were they
